Beautiful original vintage heavy impasto oil on canvas, signed Paul Shin (Shinn) and dated ’79.
The painting depicts an atmospheric Asian village scene centered around a rustic thatched-roof cottage surrounded by mature trees and flowering branches. A solitary figure stands near the cottage, with a traditional wheel/cart element adding character to the composition.
The artist used a particularly heavy impasto technique, applying the oil paint thickly to create texture and dimension throughout the landscape. Expressive palette-knife and brushwork is especially noticeable in the trees, foliage and thatched roof.
